Build A Rocket Boy, founded by former Rockstar veteran Leslie Benzies, and IOI Partners have unveiled a new cinematic story trailer for their upcoming thriller MindsEye, showcasing the game’s narrative depth ahead of its June 10th launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Welcome to Redrock City
The ‘Welcome to Redrock’ trailer introduces players to the game’s setting – a sweltering near-future desert metropolis where technology reigns supreme. Redrock City appears to be a fascinating experiment in human-machine coexistence, with consumer robots handling most manual tasks and an all-seeing algorithm connecting virtually every device in the city.
The trailer highlights two key figures who will shape the narrative: Marco Silva, the eccentric tech genius behind Silva Industries who aims to alter human evolution, and Shiva Vega, Redrock’s ambitious mayor determined to make her city the safest in the world – even at the cost of citizens’ freedoms.
At the centre of this technological power struggle is protagonist Jacob Diaz, a former elite soldier haunted by “The MindsEye” neural implant. This device appears to torment him with fragmented memories while simultaneously holding crucial information about humanity’s future.
A Story-Driven Action Adventure
MindsEye promises to blend high-intensity driving and explosive combat with a narrative that explores the consequences of unchecked AI development, military power, and human ambition. The game seems poised to examine weighty themes around technology’s influence on society and the potential dangers of sentient machines driven by human greed.
Game Director Leslie Benzies described the project as a “tightly crafted game, with a thought-provoking story where technology and ambition collide, and the inevitable consequences unravel.”
Pre-Orders Now Available
Players can now pre-order MindsEye ahead of its June 10th release at £54.99. Both digital and physical pre-orders include an upgrade to the Deluxe Edition, featuring the “Premium Pass,” special weapons, character skins, vehicle skins, and a companion drone skin.
An interesting additional feature is that players will have access to bonus missions built using ARCADIA, Build A Rocket Boy’s custom development tool that enables rapid creation of new content. This suggests the game may receive frequent content updates after launch.
With its compelling setting, morally complex narrative, and the pedigree of its development team, MindsEye is shaping up to be one of this summer’s most intriguing narrative-driven action games.
