Beginners Guide to Valorant

Valorant is a first-person shooter game developed and published by Riot Games. The game takes place on a near-future earth and features agents with unique abilities battling it out in fast-paced, tactical matches. Valorant is free-to-play and available on PC.

How To Play Valorant

Valorant is played in a 5v5 format where players are divided into attackers and defenders. The goal of the game is to either plant the Spike (attackers) or defuse it (defenders). Each match consists of 25 rounds and the team that wins 13 rounds first, wins the game.

The Characters of Valorant

In Valorant, players have the opportunity to choose from a roster of agents, each with their own unique abilities. These abilities range from utility skills like smoke grenades to abilities that allow players to see through walls. Players can choose the agent that best fits their playstyle and switch between agents during the match.

VALORANT ranks

The Valorant Ranking System

The ranking system in Valorant is based on a player’s performance in competitive games. Players start at the lowest rank, Iron, and can work their way up to Challenger by winning games and performing well. There are a total of 8 ranks in Valorant, each with 3 levels within them.

The Valorant ranks are:

  • Iron
  • Bronze
  • Silver
  • Gold
  • Platinum
  • Diamond
  • Immortal

Each rank represents a player’s skill level and is determined by their performance in competitive matches. The higher the rank, the better the player’s skill level is considered to be. Players can progress through the ranks by winning matches and earning points, and can also be demoted if they perform poorly. The ranking system is designed to provide a fair and competitive environment for players to test their skills against others.

Progressing Through the Ranks in Valorant

Once you are hooked, you’ll want to progress through the ranks quicker. While many players invest time and effort to climb the ladder, some opt to buy a valorant account online to get a head start. For those who prefer the traditional grind, I have added a few tips below to get you started.

Practice and improve your aim

Good aim is one of the most important skills in Valorant. Dedicate time to practicing your aim in the game’s practice range or in custom games.

Study the game and learn the maps

Understanding the maps and how to play on them is crucial to success in Valorant. Take time to study each map and learn the best angles, callouts, and strategies.

Communicate with your team

Communication is key in Valorant. Make sure you’re communicating with your team effectively to coordinate tactics, call out enemy positions, and give support.

Be versatile

Learn multiple agents and be comfortable playing different roles. This will make you a valuable asset to your team and give you the flexibility to adapt to different situations.

Stay positive and avoid tilt

Tilt, or playing badly due to frustration, can be a major roadblock to progression. Try to stay positive and avoid getting too upset when things don’t go your way.

Watch professional players and learn from them

Watching professional players and how they play can be a great way to learn new tactics and strategies. Take notes and try to implement what you’ve learned into your own gameplay.

Play regularly

The more you play, the better you will get. Make sure to play regularly and dedicate time to improving your skills.

Remember that progress takes time and effort, so be patient and don’t get discouraged if you don’t see immediate results. Keep practicing, stay positive, and you will get better over time.

Essential Valorant Tips

Communication REALLY is key

Good communication with your team is crucial in Valorant. Discussing tactics and calling out enemy positions can give you a significant advantage. A simple way to communicate with your team is by using the in-game ping system to mark positions, callouts, and objectives. For example, if you see an enemy player, you can ping their location for your teammates to be aware of.

Utilize your abilities

Each agent in Valorant has unique abilities that can be used to gain an advantage over your opponents. Make sure to understand the strengths and weaknesses of your chosen agent and use their abilities effectively. For example, Breach’s Flashpoint ability allows him to flash multiple players at once, making it an excellent tool for pushing into enemy territory.

Map knowledge

Valorant features a variety of maps, each with their own callouts, angles, and unique locations. Learning the maps and understanding the most common angles and positions will greatly improve your performance. Familiarize yourself with the most popular maps such as Bind, Haven, and Ascent, as these are played the most often in competitive play.

Stay alert

Always be aware of your surroundings and keep an eye out for enemy positions. Pay attention to the mini-map and listen for footsteps, gunfire, and other audio cues. For example, if you hear footsteps coming from a certain direction, be prepared for an enemy attack.

Practice makes perfect

Valorant is a fast-paced game that requires quick reflexes and good aim. Practicing your aim and game sense will greatly improve your performance. Try playing deathmatch and other game modes to sharpen your skills, or watch professional players to learn new strategies.

Playing Valorant Competitively

To play Valorant competitively, players need to have good aim, game sense, and teamwork. Playing with a consistent group of players is also helpful as communication and coordination are crucial in Valorant. Additionally, studying the game and learning strategies can give players an edge over their opponents.

Valorant Maps:

  • Bind
  • Haven
  • Ascent
  • Split
  • Icebox

Popular Valorant Maps:

  • Bind
  • Haven
  • Ascent

Known Issues with Certain Maps:

Split: Split has been criticized for having a poor design that can be exploited by players. This can lead to unfair advantages and may need to be reworked in the future.

Icebox: Icebox has been criticized for being too large and having too many flanking routes, making it difficult for defenders to hold their ground. Some players believe that the map needs to be reworked or removed from competitive play.

Valorant is a challenging but rewarding game that requires teamwork, skill, and strategy to succeed. Whether you’re a casual player or looking to play competitively, Valorant is a game that has something for everyone. So grab your team and get ready for some high-stakes, fast-paced action!
